Sandra Bernhard is one busy lady. On Tuesday, the 54 year-old actress, singer and comedienne is coming out with a new music album with Ted Mason called Whatever It Takes, according to the Los Angeles Times. She’s also out pitching a TV project with Rip Torn and his daughter Angelica, and she’s spent most of this year touring with an anniversary version of her famous one-woman show, “Without You I’m Nothing.”

Her new album is a little bit rock, a little bit world music – and has a definite political flair. “We put it together in the waning time of the Bush administration, so I feel like a lot of it was influenced by what was going on globally and people’s fear of the world and people’s fear of us,” she said. ”It was a nice segue into the Obama administration with everything opening up and blossoming like a beautiful flower.”

Since Sandra’s been so busy with her creative projects, she’s finally taking a little time for R&R – if she can handle that. “Sara, my girlfriend, is always like, “Why don’t you just enjoy yourself? Why don’t you sit around in the afternoon and read and do nothing?” And I’m like, “I can’t do that!” she said. “I’ve got to keep going. I’ve got things to do.”
