Facebook unnamed app - a new phishing scam?

Posted on 7:25 PM by Health&Beauty

Facebook users may want to beware when signing in and using the popular social media site. There appears to be a phishing scam of sorts going around the site. The Facebook unnamed app posts notifications that one of your Facebook friends has published a comment to your wall, photo or elsewhere. Upon clicking on the notification, you are asked to add a new app to your page. Once that's done, you get a strange blank page or a page with a photo you've been tagged in and a mixture of other comments unrelated to that photo. That's just one reported instance of this new app.

If you've run into this problem with your account, and have unknowingly clicked on one of these links, or worse tried to install the app, consider changing your password. Also, you can view how to get rid of Facebook apps here, including what may be the new unnamed problem app. Facebook has yet to issue any sort of official word about this new Facebook unnamed app, but it appears to be causing some troubles for users of the site. Also, be sure to report any suspicious account activity you might notice associated with your account, and spread the word via your Facebook app that there is a strange potential virus or scam hitting the site. This will make other users more careful when clicking false notifications or installing a fake app.
