This is emphasized best by “The Face on the milk carton’. Janie is a regular girl, with the normal teenager instincts – having a boyfriend and waiting to get a driver’s license. Her ‘ordinary’ status changes when she comes across a friend’s milk carton at school one day.

The milk carton in question has a face of a little missing girl. The face is remarkably similar to Janie’s own face. The carton says that this is the picture of a girl who was kidnapped when she was 3 years old. This disturbs Janie a lot. Janie’s parents love her a lot and she wonders about her ‘kidnapped’ status.

Janie searches all over her current house for her baby pictures and instead ends up finding the same dress that was in that missing girl’s picture on the milk carton.

This discovery triggers off an investigative procedure by Janie and her boy friend Reeve. They come to the conclusion that Janie’s present parents are either lying big-time or they actually kidnapped her. Janie confronts her parents with all the evidences that she and her boyfriend have gathered. Then the present parents own up to the kidnapping task and decide that the original parents have been without their daughter for long and that Janie must talk to her ‘emotional and original’ parents.
