Yale Student Death
One couple’s wedding has been delayed for a lifetime and the man who is a "person of interest" in her slaying could see his perfect day ruined as well.
Raymond Clark III has become a "person of interest" in the slaying of Annie Le, a 24-year-old Yale graduate student whose murdered body was found Sept. 13, on the day she was to wed.
According to a wedding website, Clark is scheduled to marry his fiancée Jennifer Hromadka in 2012. Will their wedding be in jeopardy as police focus their investigation on the Yale lab technician?
For now, it's not clear. Police took Clark into custody on Sept. 15 and executed search warrants for his apartment and his DNA. They released him without charges the following day and said he was cooperating with their investigation.
Clark works as a lab technician in the Yale Animal Research Center where Le's body was found stuffed behind a wall.
Le went missing just five days before her wedding. She had planned to marry Jonathan Widawsky, a Columbia University graduate student. The two met while they both pursued undergraduate degrees at Rochester University. Police have said Widawsky is not a suspect in the case.
Numerous photos from Le's Facebook page appear to show Le and Widawsky blissfully in love. In some shots they are kissing, in others playful, always happy. Annie was meant to be with Jon," college friend McKenzie Fisk said. "It was almost like they had this secret no one else knew about and something that couldn’t have been shared with anyone else because they had such a strong connection."
"This wedding was everything to Annie," she added.
Clark and Hromadka also have blissful photos online. Numerous images show Clark and Hromadka smiling and making silly faces together. They are seen on Halloween dressed up as a devilish couple with friends and on St. Patrick’s Day showing off their matching green garb.
Other pictures show Clark giving Hromadka a kiss on the cheek, and in the next one she kisses him while he smiles.
In a 2008 blog post Hromadka wrote that Clark "has a huge heart."
According to a listing on a wedding Web site, Clark and Hromadka plan to marry on Dec. 20, 2011.
